Overview
Based on morphology, Strümpel and Strümpel (2014a) revised the genus Enchenopa to include 51 valid species (21 new) and placed Campylenchia as its junior synonym. Although a prior molecular study (Lin, Danforth, and Wood 2004a), suggested Campylenchia may be a distinct genus, that work did not consistently recover Enchenopa as monophyletic, and relationships among Enchenopa, Campylenchia, and some related genera (e. g., Tritropidia and Kronides) were not well resolved in their analyses. Pending further research on these taxa, we here follow Strümpel and Strümpel (2014a), but note that we are currently unable to update Wallace’s 2019 online key to the genera of the United States, which includes Campylenchia as a valid genus.
