Overview
The genus Quadrinarea (with two species: Q. u-flava and Q. perezi) is the only genus in the tribe Quadrinareini. Previously thought to be endemic to Jamaica, McKamey and Wallner (2022a) extended the distribution of Q. u-flava, to include Dominica and questionably Guyana.

Diagnostic characters
Members of the tribe Quadrinareini differ from other Smiliinae in having the following combination of features: pronotum partially concealing the forewings in repose; forewings with R and M fused basally and abruptly diverging near mid-wing; hind wing with R4+5 and M1+2 entirely confluent distally; metathoracic leg with longitudinal row of cucullate femoral setae dorsally, 3 longitudinal rows of tibial setae, and 1 longitudinal row of cucullate tarsal setae (Deitz 1975a; McKamey and Wallner 2022a).
Immatures
The fifth instar nymphs of Quadrinarea differ from other fifth instar treehopper nymphs in entirely lacking scoli or other dorsal or lateral protuberances; also their first metathoracic tarsomere is longer than the second metathoracic tarsomere (McKamey and Wallner 2022a).
