Diagnostic characters
Head with frontoclypeal lobes indistinct. Pronotum with or without suprahumeral horns, horns partially fused to median anterior horn in some genera; posterior process straight at base or angled dorsally, not appressed against scutellum (exception: appressed against scutellum in some species of Eumonocentrus). Scutellum visible, at least laterally. Forewing with vein R1 represented by distinct pterostigma (most genera) or present (Capeneralus and Centrotus). Hind wing with veins R4+5 and M1+2 fused (3 apical cells present).
Chromosome numbers
Male 2n = 17 or 19.
