Overview
Oeda (Oeda) and Oeda (Oedacanthus), the two subgenera of Oeda, are easily distinguished by the structure and attachment of the inflated pronotal process (McKamey 1998a, Cryan and Deitz 1999b). In the former subgenus this process is sessile, opaque, finely reticulate, and unarmed apically. In the latter, the process is pedunculate, translucent, not finely reticulate, and terminates in a thorn-shaped apex. See Sakakibara (2014a) for a key to the subgenera and species. Camacho, and Flórez-V. 2024a discussed whether the enlarged pronotum enhanced or hindered flight in Oeda.
