Overview
The nine genera currently placed in the tribe Boocerini are all restricted to the mainland Neotropics (Wallace and Deitz 2004a) and Nearctic Mexcio (Deitz and Wallace 2012a). Closely related to the Caribbean tribe Monobelini and the Old World tribe Gargarini, Boocerini is only centrotine tribe known to occur in South America (Wallace and Deitz 2004a).
Taxon history
Wallace and Deitz (2004a) placed Abelini as a junior synonym of Boocerini. Albertson and Dietrich’s (2005a) reference to Abelini as a valid tribe was an oversight.
