Overview
McKamey and Sullivan-Beckers (2019a) redefined Hebetica and presented a key to its 5 species (4 from South America; 1 n. sp. from Kentucky, USA). They found that in the forewing of Hebetica, vein R1 is long and far basad of vein R2+3+4+5, but in Stictopelta R1 is short and close to the origin of vein R2+3+4+5. As a result, the authors also redefined the genus Stictopelta.
