Diagnostic characters
Pronotum with or without suprahumeral horns, posterior process concealing scutellum medially. Forewings exposed in repose; translucent; venation reticulate distally; clavus accuminate. Metathoracic femur with row of longitudinal setae dorsally, tibia triquetrous with 3 rows of cucullate setae. Abdomen without conspicuous pits. Male lateral plate, at least in Centronodus, fused to pygofer. Female second valvulae slightly broadened distally with serrations or small, acute, regularly spaced teeth dorsally.
Discussion
The monotypic subfamily Centronodinae includes only the nominotypical tribe Centronodini.
