Neotropical region: Brazil and Argentina north to Neotropical Mexico.

Diagnostic characters
Forewings entirely exposed in repose, usually with 1 r-m crossvein (exception: some Cymbomorpha without r-m, but with R4+5 and M1+2 confluent for short distance near apex and divergent beyond). Metathoracic coxa and trochanter with (some Cymbomorpha) or without apposed processes, femur without longitudinal row of cucullate setae, tiba with 3 longitudinal rows of cucullate setae. Abdominal segment III-VI or III-VIII with dorsal pairs of faint fenestrae, some Cymbomorpha with elevated middorsal tuberosities between fenestrae.
