Distribution
Neotropical and Nearctic regions: through much of South and Central America, the West Indies, Mexico, and as far north as the southwestern United States.
Diagnostic characters
Pronotum with frontal, dorsal, or lateral processes. Forewing venation simple to partially reticulate; claval apex acuminate; apical limbus broad (at least in part). Pro- and mesothoracic tibiae foliaceous. Metathoracic tibial rows I (except Scalmophorus) and II with cucullate setae, row III absent; tarsus not greatly reduced.
